Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Evan Hancock Design.

Within this website you will find a wide variety of works from timber furniture, kitchens and bathrooms, bookshelfs and wardrobes.

Please look around the Portfolio and see the variety of work that EHD does, keeping in mind that we are better furniture makers than photographers!

We hope you like what you see, and find something you need, or contact EHD and we’ll make that hard to find piece for you.

Exhibition 2008

Exhibition 2008

During the summer of 2008 EHD held its first exhibition titled "Introducing Evan Hancock Design". The exhibition was held at Waterside Pavillion in Sullivans Cove Hobart and ran for two days. Over 600 people attended across the two day period.

The collection consisted of a wide range of pieces totalling 13 in all. EHD was fortunante enough to sell every piece presented.

Trough to Coffee Table (T2CT)

T2CT

For this project EHD recycled an old un-used Horse Trough and transformed it into a new floating Coffee Table.

The project began by dismantling the old Trough, cutting into appropriate sizes, cross hatching the panels, further trimming, and finally finishing with a lick of varnish.

Kitchen Renovation

Kitchen Renovation

Bit of a blurb should go here about each project. There is a reasonable amount of room to write, but don't go bonkers and write an essay. Best bet is probably to introduce the Project in this first paragrah to give some context.

Yeah more room to type stuff here. In this second paragraph maybe talk about some of the highlights and challenges???

About

Evan Hancock

I started my own business late in 2006 after studying at the University of Tasmania School of Fine Arts, majoring in Furniture Design. Prior to that I worked as an Upholsterer and studied at Elizabeth College.

Since 2006 I have worked steadily to become completely self employed, and now employ several other full time employees.

Working with timber has been an absolute passion of mine for many years; the way it feels and looks, the multitude of was you can work a single board, and the vast different uses. I do use other materials in support of timber to gain textures and a larger colour spectrum, but try to keep the natural beauty of timber at the forefront. I do love timber, but, I am also aware that it is not always the right material for the job.

I strive to keep my furniture light to the eye but strong enough to be used for many generations to come.
